The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service(INS),
an agency of the Department of Justice, is responsible for
Immigration related services such as Immigrant and
nonimmigrant sponsorship, Adjustment of status, Work
authorization and other permits, Naturalization, Refugees
and asylum. It also enforce immigration Laws and regulations
such as Border control, Port-of-entry inspections, Detention
and removal of criminal aliens, Worksite enforcement,
Apprehension of illegal aliens and workers, Deportations and
exclusions, Denial of benefits to ineligible applicants and
Document fraud.

Asylum may be granted to people who are already in the United States and are
unable or unwilling to return their home country because of persecution or a
